Element Series Part Two

Element Series - Beach house view 

This is part two of my element series and it is a interesting idea on how I came up with this piece . I was thinking about another daydreaming series of where or what I would want to see in a happy place of my mind. I am not depressed or any of that sort I just am juggling school and work so like to come 2 art classes and explore my mind to other aspects of my life that make me happy. So I was thinking of a beach house or at least the theme of this painting. It all started with the copper piece in the middle the flower placement gave me the idea to a sea or beach house theme to represent peace and the flow of colors in the background to bring harmony into my painting. I also used colors of blue , red, and yellow to the requirements of triadic colors on the color wheel. 

Element Series Part One

Element Series -Spiritual Elephant 

This painting is apart of the element series in this project. It is called spiritual elephant because I personally love elephants and they have a special meaning that I looked up on google on random night . The spiritual meaning of elephant ( my spirt animal ) is strength, honor, stability and patience.   Those are characteristics that represent me as person so I want to create a piece that symbolized me but also met the requirement to the assignment and project/series. 

Texture Painting

Texture Painting - Sunshine Daydreaming 
This painting is to represent texture of wave movements in off sea and this painting is to picture what i daydream about when I am not in the best mood where I would picture myself to be.  I used colors of yellow-orange , orange , and red-orange which is the requirements need for this assignment where to use analogous colors on the color wheel. I like how this piece and few other pieces came together on emotions of how I felt throughout this semester and particularly this class.

Overall Overview of Drawing I & Design I Classes

This is my overall overview for my drawing I and design I classes. I have learned terminology and practiced units of work to get to the point where I feel more informed over both art classes. For my drawing I class , I have learned to keep a good composition, value , shading , and many other terms to be more successful in this class. I will be posting pictures of the work I have done for this class in a separate blog. For my design I class, I have learned about space , unity , variety , line , and many more elements of design. My first initial thought of this class is wow we have to paint our designs ?! That's crazy! But then as i got to get to know my professor more and understanding why we would paint our designs it made more since. 
Now as I am getting to the end of the semester , I am realizing I'm exiling in these classes more than I thought I would due to me never taken art classes in high school except a intro to interior design class. My major is interior design so I will be taking design II and drawing II on second semester with a lighter course load. This semester I took on 5 classes two of them being this art class and taking them back to back. 
I just wanted to make this post to look back on as I go further into my career and maybe for future schools to look at my portfolio and say hey she went through things that came out through her artwork. 

Critique : Medium Key - Fruit Still Life

A Ray of Fruit 

For this fruit still life , my inspiration was off of photo of orange , kiwi and blackberries. I did a gray scale background and some of the fruit . I added color to some of fruit and left some on gray or dark gray scale to give it balance and depth of overlapping. 

Critique : Space Design ( Prismatic Desert)

Prismatic Desert 
My description for this piece is the theme and space of this design. I picked a themed picture that would capture the geometric design of triangles and prisms. The smaller image is not exactly what I had in mind at first but once i adjusted some ideas in my head I found the design I wanted to create.
I love Prism due to one of my favorite musical artist, Katy Perry ,  her album cover and other photos within this album is what started off my inspiration to this piece. The space in this design was used in variety of ways . Adding sand at the bottom , blue and white waters , and the colors of black and white dotting method made this piece really come together.

Critique: Space Design (Colorful and Patterned Illusion)

Colorful and Patterned Illusion 
My description of this piece is to give a illusion of darker colors and adding a sense of light color to bring this piece together. I add colors of dark blue , purple and red to give more depth in the foreground of this piece. Then i matched those colors with the geometric triangles to then center your eyes to this white circle which to me is almost like a shape of person's head.
